Frequently asked questions

Is ToolsRift really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no sign-up, no account and no usage limits. The site is paid for by the adverts you see on content pages.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. PDFs, images, video and audio are processed inside your browser using Web Workers and WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your device. You can check this yourself — the privacy proof page shows how.
Are there limits on file size or the number of files?
There are no artificial limits on size, file count or uses. Very large files depend on your device's memory, so a phone may be slower than a laptop; everything still stays on your device.
Does ToolsRift work offline?
Once a tool page has loaded, most tools keep working without a connection. If you install ToolsRift as an app, the core PDF and image tools are cached for offline use.
Can I install ToolsRift as an app?
Yes. In Chrome, Edge or Samsung Internet use “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”; in Safari use Share → “Add to Home Screen”. We only suggest installing after you have used a tool a couple of times.
How do I report a problem or suggest a tool?
Every tool page has a “Report a problem” link at the bottom, or you can email hello@toolsrift.com. We read every message.
